When I say I have tried it all, I mean it.

Improving My Vulva and Vaginal Health, Naturally

Garlic up the vagina (yep). Candida cleanse (that too). Hours spent scrolling reddit, remember the vagtok trend? I have spent years of my life trying to decipher conflicting advice, and standing in front of pharmacy shelves hoping for something—anything—that wouldn’t make things worse.

Like so many of you, I spent years navigating recurrent infections, discomfort, and frustration with the lack of effective, body-safe options. Conventional treatments were often a temporary fix at best and a gamble at worst. Natural remedies were hard to find and either unreliable or required the kind of patience I didn’t always have, not to mention I needed a solution that suited the life I WANTED to life, not a life dedicated to the needs of my finicky vagina.

"I needed something that worked, that I could trust, and that didn’t come with a list of ingredients that had side affects as debilitating as the infection I was trying to resolve"

That’s what led me to create Momotaro Apotheca. What started as a deeply personal mission to solve my own issues - became a brand built on research, transparency, and a commitment to holistic healing. Seven years later, we’re still here—learning, evolving, and formulating products that address the root cause of infection, while immediately soothing symptoms. All made with certified organic ingredients for those of us who prefer things a little more au naturel.

And after years of trial, error, development, new partners, and persistent issues I can confidently say there are a handful of things that are tried and true. If you're looking for a simple, effective foundation for vaginal health, here’s where I always start:

Tried & True: What Actually Works for Vaginal & Vulvar Health

Prioritize Your Microbiome

Your gut and vaginal microbiome are more connected than you think. A balanced microbiome means fewer infections, less irritation, and better overall health. Eating fiber-rich foods, staying hydrated, and taking a high-quality probiotic daily can help maintain this balance. I consider my probiotic a non-negotiable part of my routine.

Stay Fresh" Without Overdoing It

I always hated the language around being fresh, I feel like it perpetuates some shame around our bodies natural processes and your vulva doesn’t need an elaborate cleansing routine, but it does need care. I avoid harsh soaps, opt for breathable fabrics, and use Hydrosol to gently refresh post-workout, post-sex, or anytime I need a quick reset. It’s pH-friendly and perfect for keeping things comfortable without disrupting pH.

Soothe Irritation Before It Spirals

Tight clothing, friction, hormones, or even stress can throw things off. When I feel irritation creeping in, I apply Salve to calm discomfort before it turns into something worse. It’s my go-to for post-period sensitivity, chafing, and general maintenance.

Make Relaxation Part of Healing

Stress can impact everything—including vaginal health. Prioritizing rest and relaxation isn’t just good for your mind, it’s good for your body too. A warm bath with Tonic is my way of unwinding while also soothing skin and muscles. It’s free from harsh surfactants, synthetic fragrances, and drying ingredients, making it one of the only bath products I trust.

Vaginal Wellness Isn't One Size Fits All

Don't forget these are just my tips, you vaginal and vulva health care needs are as unique as you and what work for one person may not work for another. These products combined with very mindful lifestyle changes have kept me healthy for years now.

Don't Forget:

  • Sleep Naked, let your vulva breath
  • Wear cotton underwear that is comfortable, a lip slip never feels good
  • Eat food from the earth, that nourishes mind and body
  • SLEEP, do not underestimate how important it is for your body to rest to fight infection and work optimally.
  • Be kind to yourself, stress is linked to recurrent infections and I know all to well how frustrating chronic infections can be.
