A Hydrosol is a gentle, water-based botanical extract created during the steam distillation of plants. Often called "plant water" or "flower water," "Hydrosols" contain trace amounts of the beneficial compounds found in botanicals like rose, lavender, rosemary, and orange blossom. Unlike concentrated essential oils, hydrosols are highly diluted and designed to be gentle enough for daily use on sensitive skin. At Momotaro Apotheca, is steam distilled with essential oils. When the steam from the distilled water passes through the certified organic plants, it "holds on" to the oils' nutrients from each ingredient. These essential oils are then scooped off the top of the steam and turned back into water.
