8 Ways to Use Our Tonic Oil for Everywhere
We mean it when we say our Tonic is for everywhere (and everyone). Dealing with combo skin? Painful ingrown hairs? Eczema? Itchy scalp? Sore muscles? Stressed? We’ve got a few ideas that can help with all of the above and none of the chemicals in our plant-based multi-use Tonic.
We take great care to ensure that all of our products are formulated with certified organic ingredients that support your body’s natural ability to resolve physiological issues while supporting the psychological challenges that accompany them, working with your body to help sooth and resolve any imbalance you might be dealing with.
While they were designed to help find relief from uncomfortable vulvar issues like Bacterial Vaginosis, yeast infections, vaginal pH imbalance, and general irritation from sex, clothing, or exercise, its pure blend of ingredients can be used literally all over your body.
Momotaro customer Kaylan raves, “‘Oil for everywhere’ is an accurate description of this magical tonic. It travels with me everywhere and goes everywhere on my body, including my face. I cannot recommend it enough. Plus it smells phenomenal!”
Comprised of only six organic ingredients, this magic elixir of essential oils is antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-fungal, antibacterial, anti inflammatory, and noncomedogenic. Basically, the tonic can be applied to nearly every body part without disrupting your skin’s ability to self-heal or moisturize. It won’t clog your pores, but it can help treat a myriad of issues with clinical proven efficacy. Just note that Tonic is a topical and should not be applied on broken skin or mucous membranes. Read: it is not for internal use. If you’re looking for a safe product for internal vaginal relief, try Salve.
In a soothing synthesis of texture and scent, this vitamin and antioxidant-rich jojoba oil based tonic can be enjoyed in a bath or applied directly to skin to help you relax, rejuvenate, and repair from head to toe.
Soak in a Safe-For-Your Skin Bath
Baths aren't just a luxurious way to unwind at the end of the day! With antifungal and antibacterial properties, courtesy of Tea Tree, Oregon Grape, and Goldenseal, a bath soak infused with several dropperfuls of Tonic may help clear up skin conditions and ahem, bath conditions. Even if you haven’t given the ol’ clawfoot a good scrub in a few weeks, you’ll avoid risk of infection from the bacteria that breeds in humid spaces and on damp surfaces and you avoid the harsh chemicals and artificial fragrances typically found in bubble bath products and traditional body soaps.
Bath lover Sue used to be nervous about getting an infection from soaking in her regular soap, but has found that “the tonic is the perfect answer to that; it keeps my bath clean, but still smells and feels really relaxing and luxurious,” for guilt-free baths.
Soothe Irritated Skin
The antibiotics and antifungal medications found in your local pharmacy commonly prescribed to treat chronic skin conditions like eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, or dermatitis are often so potent that they damage the good bacteria that fight the bad, and strip your skin of its natural protective barrier, leaving you vulnerable to infection or further irritation.
If you’ve been unable to find much relief from the above skin conditions, or are temporarily itching like crazy from an encounter with poison ivy, poison oak, or a swarm of mosquitos, take a soak with our tonic to help alleviate symptoms. The Vitamin E rich jojoba oil helps protect your skin’s lipid barrier and seals in moisture while the active constituents found in Goldenseal and Oregon Grape—specifically Berberine—can help reduce the severity and area of itchy or inflamed skin.
Keep the Bugs at Bay
Dab a few drops of tonic on your pulse points for a natural bug repellant. Tea tree oil has been shown to be effective against mosquitoes, bush flies, and biting midges (but please take extra precaution measures to protect yourself against ticks!).
Your pulse points can be found on the inner wrists, knees, and elbows, behind the earlobes, at the base of the throat, and along your sternum. They are the areas on your body where the blood vessels are closest to your skin and emanate heat to help “diffuse” the oil as it reacts with your body to emit scent.
Eradicated Ingrown Hairs
Take a soak in a warm bath infused with 5-10 dropperfuls of Tonic to soften hair follicles before shaving your pubic hair.
If you haven’t got the time (or tub), just smooth on the tonic as a pre- and post-shave oil. Antimicrobial tea tree oil eliminates excess sebum in the pores to prevent ingrown hairs while Sweet Orange and Cedar Wood stimulates blood flow to speed up the healing process if you happen to get any.
Prior to using a fragrance-free shave cream, apply a few drops of the Tonic to damp skin to soften any hair or stubble and lubricate the skin so your razor can glide smoothly across your more sensitive areas for a closer shave. You can use the tonic on your arms and legs, but it is especially good for shaving around your genitals, as it won’t disrupt your vaginal pH.
You can also apply the tonic as needed between shaves (or waxes) to keep skin moisturized and alleviate any itching or irritation as hair grows back. Tonic deeply penetrates hair follicles to soften ingrown hairs so they can easily slide out of skin without scarring or discomfort.
“It gives me immediate relief from dry, irritated skin post wax. More so, as the wax grows back I use [Tonic] daily after a shower to prevent ingrowns and itch from irritated hair follicles,” Momotaro customer Lindsey notes.
Cleanse & Moisturize Skin
No matter your skin type—oily, combo, dry, or sensitive—our tonic is gentle enough to address a variety of skin issues, making it a natural addition to your daily skincare routine.
Using clean fingertips, gently apply a few drops of the Tonic to your face to remove dead skin, makeup, and pollutants that naturally settle on your skin as you go about your day. Because jojoba oil is so similar to the oil our skin follicles naturally produce (sebum), it helps dissolve excess the excess sebum to clear out clogged pores and draw blackheads and whiteheads to your skin’s surface.
Use a warm washcloth to wipe off, or follow up this simple oil-cleansing method with a gentle foaming face wash to remove the excess oil, leaving your pores ready to soak up any other skin treatments and serums you use. If you’re not sure about using an oil to cleanse your face, apply a few drops to toned and moisturized skin as a final step in your evening routine to seal in moisture. The soothing blend of essential oils can also help you relax for a good night’s rest.
You can also add a single drop of tonic to your daily moisturizer or even your foundation for a glowy-not-greasy sheen that simultaneously protects your skin from oxidative stress caused by exposure to pollutants and other toxins in the air.
Prepare for Your Period
If you’re dealing with painful period cramps, a relaxing tonic-infused soak can help. Not only does the ritual of drawing a bath help you focus on your mental and bodily well-being, the Cedarwood Virginia and Sweet Orange essential oils help stimulate blood flow, relieve tension, and act as an anti-inflammatory, which can also help alleviate bloating. It doesn't hurt that a hint of citrus elevates your mood!
Relax Post Sex, Exercise, or a Long Day
Give yourself or your partner a mini massage! If you’re sore after a particularly strenuous exercise or sex session, Sweet Orange and Cedar Wood Virginia stimulate blood flow to relieve any tension and help speed up the healing process and muscle repair.
The leak-proof glass dropper bottle can be thrown in your gym bag or overnight bag, as tonic-lover Jenn points out. “[It’s] so convenient to carry along with me wherever I go! Now that I’m regularly exercising, I find myself giving myself mini body massages and this oil is perfect for that along with providing my skin with needed hydration.”
Sweet Orange and Cedar Wood Virginia are also known aphrodisiacs, making the tonic a natural alternative to sensual massage oils.
Grow A Healthy Head of Hair
Massage a dropperful or two of the tonic directly onto your scalp a few times a week to promote healthy hair growth or alleviate a dry, itchy head. The anti-fungal and antimicrobial properties in tea tree oil, Cedar Wood, and Oregon Grape fight the fungus that causes dandruff without stripping your head of its natural oils, creating better growing conditions for your hair.
You can also apply a few drops to the ends of your hair to seal in moisture and protect your strands from split ends.
All of our products are100% plant based, organic, and cruelty-free. We never use chemical emulsifiers, so if the oils separate, simply shake before use.
